This is the English version of the Conditions of Participation (“Teilnahmebedingungen”). In case of any legal disputes, the German version prevails.

StudIT is part of Division III – International Affairs – International Student Affairs and Exchange Programs of the University of Tübingen. Events by StudIT thereby are events by the University of Tübingen.

The Conditions of Participation apply to all StudIT events. By registering for an event you automatically accept the Conditions of Participation.

PAYMENT
Participation fees must be paid until one week before the event if not stated otherwise. Division III – International Affairs – International Student Affairs and Exchange Programs of the University of Tübingen reserves the right to exclude participants from their events who did not pay the participation fee in time.

DEREGISTRATION / NON-PARTICIPATION
StudIT is not able to refund participation fees after deregistration. If a substitute participant can be found, StudIT can transfer the right for participation to that person. This must be announced to StudIT before the event. In default of appearance at the event, the participation fee is due as well.

CANCELLATION OF AN EVENT BY STUDIT
If an event has to be cancelled due to insufficient participant numbers, bad weather or for any other reason, charged participation fees will be refunded. No other entitlements exist.

EXTERNAL CIRCUMSTANCES
We reserve the right for changes in the program, especially if external circumstances, for example bad weather conditions, make it necessary. In these cases, we will try to offer an alternative program. If the event takes place, refunding the participation fee is not possible. No other entitlements exist.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE
Regularly immatriculated students of the University of Tübingen as well as exchange students from non-EU-countries who are immatriculated at the University of Tübingen, are insured through the “Unfallkasse Baden-Württemberg” (Accident Fund of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg) during excursions. Not covered by this insurance are private matters during excursions (e.g. visiting the supermarket or restroom).

For exchange students from EU-countries the legal situation is different. In accordance with art. 11 par. 3 lit. EG VO 883/2004 the place of work/residence principle applies, meaning that only the law in which the student resides applies. An important criteria for the determination of the place of residence is the source of income. If, e.g. the exchange stay in Tübingen is financed by the participant’s parents, then the place of residence of the parents is the place of residence of the participant and the law of this place/country applies in case of an accident. If the student works in Germany during his/her exchange semester in Tübingen and thus finances his/her stay, the place of residence would be Germany and insurance protection through the Unfallkasse Baden-Württemberg could apply.

For more information please contact the “Unfallkasse Baden-Württemberg”: info@ukbw.de

Participants in excursions who are not immatriculated students of the University of Tübingen (e.g. interns, external participants) are not insured through the Unfallkasse Baden-Württemberg, but participate as private individuals. Those participants are advised to seek their own precautions, i.e. to obtain private accident insurance.

LIABILITY
The Universitäty of Tübingen is only liable in case of intention and gross negligence. The Universitäty of Tübingen is especially not liable in case of theft, loss or damage to property that participants bring to any events. Apart from that legal regulations apply.

PRIVACY
Collected data will only be used for managing the specific event. For events that are subsidized by the DAAD, the DAAD will receive a list of participants with name, country of origin, ERASMUS-status and signature. Otherwise your personal data are not passed on to third parties nor will they be used by them.
